The Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced that those above the age of 17 can now submit an application in advance to be included in the voter list.
Every three months, the electoral roll will be refreshed. Prior to this, the Law Ministry amended the Representation of the People Act to include four dates as the eligibility for children to register to vote: January 1, April 1, July 1, and October 1. This was done in response to the recommendations of ECI.
