US Approves $ 550 Million Crimson Solar Project

Recently the US approved $ 550 million for the Crimson Solar Project. The project will provide power to 87,500 homes.


Crimson Solar Project

  • The project will be set up on 2,000 acres of land in the California desert.

  • The project is 13 miles west of Blythe.

  • The project is owned by Sonoran West Solar Holdings LLC.

  • 650 temporary jobs will be generated by the construction of this project.

  • It has a 350 MW solar photovoltaic facility and a 350 MW energy storage system.

  • It is a part of Biden's plan to accelerate the development of renewable energy on public lands and water.

By 2020, the US had 97,275 MW of installed concentrations and photovoltaic solar power. This is 1.66% of the total electricity consumed by the country.


Byden's Plan

US President Joe Biden signed a US $ 2 million infrastructure proposal to curb greenhouse gas emissions in the US. The plan proposed USD 100 billion to update the electric grid system in the country and make it more resilient to climate disasters.


During the US-hosted Climate on Leaders Summit, the president announced that the US would achieve net-zero emission targets by 2050.


California Desert

There are three main deserts in California. They are the Colorado Desert, the Mohave Desert and the Great Basin Desert. The Colorado Desert is located northwest of the California desert. The Great Basin Desert is the only cold desert located in the country.


The Mohave Desert consists of the San Gabriel and San Bernardino mountain ranges.
